The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma would like to invite you to join us as we celebrate the 58th Annual Keetoowah Cherokee Celebration in historic Tahlequah, Oklahoma. This year's festivities will be held at the Keetoowah Cherokee Celebration Grounds located on the Tribes 80 acre development on west Willis Road.
The celebration in October will include a parade, Chief's State of the Nation address, free traditional meal, gospel singing, a powwow, and various children's activities, including a turtle race and fishing derby.
Traditional games competitions will also be held including marbles, blowgun, corn stalk shoots and, of course, stick ball. Also taking place will be a three-on-three basketball competition, horse shoes, and volley ball. View the Flyer.
Keetoowahs Announce 6th Annual Clothing & School Supply Program
The United Keetoowah Band Department of Health & Human Services is pleased to announce that the tribe will once again be assisting school age children with vouchers for school supplies and clothing. This is the sixth consecutive year for the program that provides assistance for eligible youth of the Keetoowah Cherokee Tribe.
To be eligible for assistance, the household must meet income guidelines. UKB income guidelines are comprised of 150% of federal guidelines. Children must be exclusive members of the UKB no later than July 12, 2008 to qualify.
Children in grades K-8 will receive $75. Wal-Mart vouchers for school supplies and clothing while high school students in grades 9-12 will receive $100. Wal-Mart vouchers just as they have in previous years.
Because this is funded by the Keetoowah Cherokee Casino and not the JOM program, children who are assisted by the UKB are encouraged to also apply for the JOM program at their school.

All locations will be open from noon to 6 p.m. except Tahlequah on FRIDAY, July 25, and Muskogee , which will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 26 during the Canadian District Monthly Community Meeting.

July 23 - Stilwell UKB Office for Flint and Goingsnake Districts

July 26 - Ataloa Lodge, Bacone College in Muskogee , OK for Canadian District (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
Filing dates set for UKB Officer and District Representative Candidates
The UKB Election Board will be acceptingapplications from tribal members wishing to filefor candidacy for UKB Officer or District Representativeon the UKB Tribal Council. Filing opensFriday, August 1 at 9 a.m. and closes on Thursday,August 14 at 6 p.m. All candidates should file inperson at the UKB Election Board office, locatedat 20525 Jules Valdez Road in Tahlequah. Attention UKB Members – Check IHS Registration
Tribal Officials at the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma are contacting all tribal members to encourage them to check the tribal affiliation listed on their IHS records. “If tribal members don’t confirm that they are United Keetoowah Band members specifically, they will be listed as being a member of CNO (Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma),” said UKB Chief George Wickliffe.
UKB Tribal members should make it a point to change registration for Indian Tribe at the IHS hospitals to the full title of United Keetoowah Band of Cherokees to be registered properly. UKB tribal members should show their membership cards to the clerk when they check in at IHS Hospitals. For more information, contact UKB Enrollment at (918) 453-9375.
